Onlife Trophy Football Tournament

Onlife Trophy is an annual Football Tournament owned, sponsored and organized by the proprietor(s) of 5Guys Books and Sportings

The mentioned shop is a Books and Sports center located in Nyahuka Town, Bundibugyo district in western Uganda.

The Football Tournament takes place in the last months of the year and extends in January of the following year. 

A few individuals are selected to help in the running of the football competition that cuts across the whole district.

Awarding Smartest Team of the Year

Launch and affiliation

Onlife Trophy was inaugurated on October 16th of 2022 at Bundingoma Primary school playground. Two matches were played on that opening day; Busu Planet Fc played against Holy Unity Fc and City Lion Fc against Busunga Hotspurs.

The management of 5Guysbiz announced the Football Tournament in a letter that was addressed to the Body that governs Football in Bundibugyo District. This was on the 23th of August 2023. In the following months, Onlife Trophy was dually affiliated with Bundibugyo District Football Association (BDFA).

COMPETITION FORMAT

Any Football team in Bundibugyo district is open to compete in the Onlife Trophy Football Tournament. Officially registered teams are grouped according to zones or localities where they come from. This is meant to facilitate easy movement of players and fans. Group stages can comprise at least three teams accordingly.

The group stages are followed by knockout stages that can be round of sixteen, quarters finals or semifinals. If it happens that after group stages, follows semi finals, it can be agreed that the same semi finals be two legged, that is to say home and away. 

Onlife Trophy finals is just a single match played in a neutral ground. The tournament encourages a third and fourth place game as well.

About Our First edition

Onlife Trophy Football Tournament held its first edition in the same year of its launch. A total of fourteen teams officially participated in the historical opening season in  2022.

Nyakakindo Young Blood FC was crowned as the First Champion on 8th January 2023. Picfare Boys Fc was the second after being won in the finals that ended in Penalties at Kisuba Primary School Playground in Kaghema Town Council.

Holy Unity Fc and City Lions Fc came as the third and the fourth respectively. Other teams that graced the inaugural edition included Busunga Hotspurs, Mungano Fc, Mamba Boys, Nyahuka Juniors, Busu Planet, Boston Fc Bundingoma, Nyambaro Fc, Bundikahungu United, Mafu Mafu Fc, and Mirambi United.

 

Future and mission

The Onlife Trophy Football Tournament’s scope is to promote local talent in sports by bringing youths together in a neutral and corruption-free football competition organized by fellow youths.

Onlife Trophy caters for all. This is clearly seen when it comes to the tournament awards, whereby the best four teams share slightly  equal prizes. More than eight merit and nomination based prizes are also won. For example; top scorer, the best Goalkeeper, the best referee, the best manager, the most disciplined team, extra.

Katwe Fc, Kahunge Fc and Bundimasoli United (Buyo) have qualified to the Kitara Regional League. 

St Mary’s Simbya in USSSA Nationals and all Knockout stage Scores

In the first place, this article is meant to book all St. Mary’s Simbya scores and photos on the soon to be completed USSSA games. Secondly, it will show all knockout Results of the Boys National Football Championship 2023 live from Kyakasura in Fort Portal City. Lastly it will show cast courtesy photos of Simbya and some school teams.

Simbya Secondary school also known by locals as SMASS is from Nyahuka Town Council in Bundibugyo District. The School qualified for the nationals as the best loser in the Rwenzori region. Similarly, Fort portal secondary school and West Ville which played the regional finals. Regional games were hosted at Simbya in April.

Only West Ville managed to qualify for knockout stages. The Boys National Football Championship 2023 hosted at Nyakasura Secondary School has been running since the 09th of May 2023. The games were played in various playgrounds around Fort Portal Tourism City.

The Special one; AS Roma in the second final in two seasons

José Mourihno the Special One takes AS Roma in two consecutive European Finals. The Roman Football Club managed to eliminate Bundesliga based Bayern Leverkusen.

The Special one secured another final for Rome after winning the first ever Europa Conference League in 2022.  This consequently came after a goalless draw in the second leg of their semi-final tie on the night of 18th/05/2023.

Edoardo Bove’s goal gave the Italian side a 1-0 win in the first leg, and in the meantime that was enough to take them through. Bove is a young Italian player born in Rome and aged 18.

Roma therefore progressed to face Sevilla in the final on 31 May in Budapest Hungary. On the other hand, Spanish Sevilla secured a win in extra time against Turin based and Italian giant  Juventus.

The Special one – Manager of History

The relatively new Manager (since 2021) has changed the Roman club history.  Not only by winning the Conference league trophy last season.  But also by taking the club in two consecutive European finals in two seasons after 31 years.

In addition, citation from BBC Sports via Sky Sports reports José words:

“My concern isn’t marking my place in the Roma history books,”
“It’s helping these kids [players] to grow and achieve important things”.
“It’s also helping the Roma fans who have given me so much since day one. It’s an immense joy to get to another final.”

Furthermore, this is the sixth European final for the Portuguese manager. He is the only coach who has managed to win four different UEFA Trophies with four different Clubs. He is looking at his sixth UEFA trophy.

Meanwhile the Italian Serie A has taken another twist. Four different teams have won the Scudetto in four years. This came after Juventus won the Italian top most competition for 9 consecutive times.

Football lovers noticed how Italian Clubs have been competitive on European football nights. In summary, two Serie A teams reached the Champions league semifinals. Three managed to reach the finals. Inter Milan in the Champions League and Fiorentina in the Conference league.  And then AS Rome in Europa league. 

Although it is worth mentioning that Rome’s performance is not stable.  Because of un-avoidable injuries and having few players. Paolo Dybala never played though he was on the bench. Of course, all will be known in the coming day of May and June if an Italian Club will take home a European Trophy.

This year’s Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association( USSSA ) Rwenzori region games are hosted at St Mary’s Simbya SS. The school is just a kilometer from Nyahuka TC.

On the other hand, Christ School Bundibugyo is located in the heart of Nyahuka Tc. Meanwhile Haven high School is just less than a Kilometer from the mentioned Town. Likewise, Semuliki High borders Bundibugyo Town Council.

In addition, teams that participated came from Fort Portal Tourism city, Kabarole District, Kasese Municipality/District. From Kamwenge, from Ntoroko, Kyegegwa and then Bunyangabo District.

The USSSA Regional games will take place from April 13th to April 15th 2023.

Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association( USSSA ) Rwenzori region Boys draw was conducted on Wednesday, 12th April 2023 at St Mary’s Simbya Secondary School Bundibugyo.

The matches will be played in the playground of Busunga Primary, Bubandi Seed, Namugongo Primary, Booma – Kawamala Memorial Grounds, Semuliki High, and Bubandi Primary.

Young blood Fc on Wednesday 19th of October 2022 had a stunning friendly match against Mulusu Spori. The Nyakakindo based Football Club in Busaru sub county played a goalless 90 Minutes game putting in all their efforts.

Nevertheless, Mulusu Spori from DR Congo had played against The Mamba Boys just yesterday. Both Games were played at Busaru playground. This draw showed that Mulusu Spori is an impressive team and can do better.

Young blood will participate in the 5Guysbiz Onlife Trophy which was launched on Sunday 16th October 2022 at Bundingoma Primary School.

Group A which opens on Friday 21st will see Mamba Boys play Mafu Mafu Boys and Picfare boys will hustle out against Elite Stars Fc at Busaru primary school.

Mamba Boys Fc stuns Mulusu Spori

Mamba Boys Fc knocked Mulusu Spori at Busaru Playground on 18th October 2022. The two had a competitive friendly match in which Mamba Boys was preparing itself for the newly launched 5Guysbiz Onlife Trophy.

Mulusu Spori (Spori means FC)) is from DRC the part which boarders with Bundibugyo District Uganda. Then Mamba Boys managed to secure this win on 2 goals to nil.

Crown Stars FC beats Nyahuka Junior

Crown Stars Football Club beats Nyahuka Junior in a friendly at Bundikahunga Primary School playground. It was 26th of august 2022.

It was a ‘Kene’ win. The stunning goal was a clinical finish by one Kapalaya Gideon aka KP in the 32nd Minute.

The Stars of Kabutabule trading centre had a sleepless night after a 2:2 draw with Mitunda United Football Club the day before this friendly.

The Stars have put a proud record as their previous friendlies show consistency in winning. Equally important one Mugume Nicholas Salongo attributes their form to daily training at Bubandi Seed.

Players and fans of  the winning Stars were seen ascending to their Trading Centre with Jubilation. Proud Nyahuka Junior was seen dropping to Nyahuka in silent Mood.
